A walk up the valley to one of the BBC's film locations for The Village

A walk up the valley to one of the BBC's film locations for The Village

Yesterday John, Isobel and I headed up the valley towards Upper Booth and Crowden. A lovely day, a bit blowly a little drizzle, but the sun was trying hard to come out -  it has succeeded today! Whilst we were up there John headed off the beaten track towards the barn and surroundings countryside used for John Middleton's barn and farmhouse in the BBC's epic serial The Village. He took a few photographs, and when we got home we compared the original with what the BBC version - I think they've added a door to the main barn door, otherwise it is as it is. Some of the farm machinery there was left in situ for filming. It looks as though it has been there for donkey's years. Amazing.

Hayfield and Chapel-en-le Frith are just a couple of miles away over the hill. Hayfield village and the church there were used as the main site for the village.
